The food can be excellent and although there has been an effort to modernise, it still retains some of its olde world charm. Be prepared for unusual and eccentric staff, and regulars who don't look as if they have moved for years. The open fires and wood burners add charm and much needed warmth in winter, summer there is a beer garden to use. There are function rooms and bookings are frequent for all sorts of occasions. The Sunday roast is exceptional and the carvery well worth a visit, or two!
The carvery was excellent and great value for money. The staff were very polite. 1 small issue with 1 dessert but it was dealt with. Would happily visit again.

Lovely meal, staff very friendly. Was busy when we went but staff kept us informed and we got our meal within the time stated. All food is home cooked and was definitely worth the wait. Games are behind the bar so we could keep the children entertained while waiting. Lovely atmosphere.
